Gretchen Snedeker, Andy Sloane 'Blood Brothers' at NHS next week

Five Newark teens will be appearing in next weekend's performance of Blood Brothers at Newark High School.

Starring in the play are Gretchen Snedeker as Mrs. Johnston, Andy Sloane as Eddie Lyons, Colleen Hallagan as Linda, Susanna MacLaren as Mrs. Lyons and Rachel Scarpati as the narrator. Snedeker and Sloane are pictured.

The play is being presented through Blue Gill productions, in association with the Summer 2000 Theatre Arts Training Seminar.

Its music, lyrics and book are all by Willy Russell. The musical tells the rags-to-riches story of a set of twins separated at birth who grow to become best friends. Along the way, you meet the mothers, family and friends that are all affected by the terrible secret that has been kept from them for years.

The summer 2000 Theatre training seminar is a unique program in that it trains young performers in acting, vocal, and dance. Participants take classes for four weeks that all culminate into a final production. Artistic Director Damian Koviak, Musical Director Evan Harrington and Choreographer Kylee Pike, direct this year's final production. The cast members are grades 9-12 from Rochester and the surrounding areas, including Victor, Newark and Fairport.

Performances will be held at Newark High School on Thurs., August 17 at 7 p.m., Fri., August 19 at 7 p.m. and Sat., August 19 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Thursday and Saturday evening's performance will feature Snedeker, Sloane, Scarpati and MacLaren. Friday and Saturday's matinee performances will feature Hallagan and Sloane.

Tickets are general admission and cost $6. For reservations or further information call 716.742.3962.
