Another Fun Day at Sodus Point

A second Fun in the Sun Day will take place on August 24 from 10 a.m.- noon at Sodus Point Park. The event is free, but youth interested in attending should pre-register by calling 483.4459 between 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. or 946.5624 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

The deadline for registration is August 18.

Fun in the Sun Day features four stations including crafts and water fun for children ages 5-14.

The last Fun in the Sun Day, held on July 25, attracted 140 children, and 30 adult supervisors.

The four stations were set up for each youth to explore and have fun. They included Build a Bug, presented by Sue Higgins of the Seven Lakes Girl Scout Council; Nature Crafts, presented by Alice Schultz also of the Seven Lakes Girl Scout Council; and Beach Games and Water Games, the last two stations, presented by the Sodus Point Park Lifeguard Staff.

Recreation programs from the Towns of Arcadia, Sodus, Galen, and Villages of Newark, Sodus Point and Clyde participated in this event and pre-registered individuals.

The event is sponsored by the Wayne County Department of Aging & Youth and is funded by Wayne County and the NYS Office of Children & Family Services.
