Wayne County briefs
By Donna Comella

The Wayne County Board of Supervisors began the Tuesday morning meeting by singing Happy Birthday to Sodus Supervisor Donna Chittenden. Then, it was on to regularly scheduled business, which included:

Delaying, indefinitely, any decision to accept $14 million in tobacco settlement money. The lump sum payment is lower than what could be expected if the payments were spread out over years to come, but the lump sum must be used for capital projects to be completed within five years. With the county having no such projects, they are passing on the lump sum for now, but may opt in at a later date.

Authorizing Sheriff Richard Pisciotti to purchase a Voice Stress Analyzer, and arrange for proper training and certification to operate the equipment.

Accepting a $20,000 grant to conduct a ridership survey for the Amtrak Passenger Rail Station proposed for Lyons.

Contracting to repair and restore antique books of the County Clerk's office. The cost of preservation will be $46,565.

Awarding bids for Abbey Park restroom facilities in Lyons, to Nicoletta Building of Clyde. The cost - $32,000

Renewing the lease of the Wayne County Humane Society for a period of five years.

Granting the permanent appointment of Josh McCrossen as Social Services Commissioner for a five-year term.

Endorsing the Erie Canal Cultural Center's promenade project.

Appointing Bob Iocco of Newark, to the Wayne County Youth Board, replacing Gloria Matias.
