Best of  Wayne County Fair

vegetables12-YEAR-OLD WINS PIE CONTEST Jenna Gerber, 12, of Boston Road, Ontario, won the 11th annual Wayne County Fair Pie Contest on August 15. The youngest contestant to ever win the competition, Jenna was one of 45 to vie for the title of Wayne County's Best Pie Baker and an $80 first prize.

Jenna's winning pie was a Summer Berry Pie.


Second place went to Nancy McIntyre, Maple Street Road, Lyons - summer medley pie. Third place went to Jeremy Hares, 14, of Hall Center Road, Walworth with his French apple pie.

Aileen Gardner of Lyon Road, Marion received fourth-place honors with her blackberry pie. Fifth place went to Phyllis Bliek of East Williamson Road, Marion with her old-fashioned blueberry maple pie.

Sarah Gardner, daughter of Aileen Gardner, placed sixth with her Dutch apple pie.

dogs Mott's North America of Williamson sponsored the 11th Annual Wayne County Fair Pie Contest. Mott's gave all the contestants a cookbook consisting of the winners and contestants from the past three years and a napkin holder. Immediately following the competition, all the pies were auctioned off by Van's Auction Service of Marion. The auction raised $447.

Cookbooks are available for sale ($10) by contacting Gerry Dekdebrun at 926.4926 All proceeds go towards Fairgrounds renovations.

All Best of Fair winners received a donated gift or gift certificate and rosette.
