Green Party to meet in Newark

The Wayne County chapter of the Green Party will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Newark Public Library.

learn more The public is welcome to attend this open meeting. There will be a brief presentation at the meeting on the Green Party platform position on energy issues, by local author Susan Peterson Gateley who published an article in Z Magazine on the topic last spring, as well as discussion on local water quality issues (Sodus Bay) and possible solutions to them.

Consumer activist Ralph Nader is running as the Green Party candidate for president in this fall's elections. Green Party members who support him believe in grass roots democracy and in sustainable economic policies.

The Green Party began in West Germany in 1979 and has since spread across the world. Its values include decentralization, personal and global responsibility, respect for diversity and community based economics.
