Missing Sodus

This week, we're in Albany. (We have to get in all the travel time we can while the kids have vacation.) We came home from Utica on Sunday, picked up the dogs on Monday, dropped them off again on Tuesday, and were on our way once again. (At this point, the dogs probably think they live at the kennel and visit our house. Caesar was so hoarse on Sunday he could barely get a yip out. When we pick him and Sarah up again, he probably won't be able to bark at all. Sarah apparently is a good girl and quiet during her stays.)
Eileen Hooper's brother, Wayne is getting married soon. Congratulations to the happy couple. Eileen will be coming home for the occasion and will be visiting the last weekend in September. She'll be able to see our New York autumn again. (Since it's at the end of September and getting chilly, she'll probably be happy to get back to balmy Florida. Eileen, is your mom going back with you?) Gosh, summer went fast! The Hooper children are doing well in school in Florida.
Al Dobbin's daughter, Sue, said they had been at her Dad's watching an old video and saw a couple of leprechans. Imagine that! (Al used to call my kids the leprechans when they dropped off baked goods at his door.) Yes, Sue the leprechans have grown quite a bit since l995. Al, I think of you and Alice everytime I bake chocolate chip cookies. Sue's daughter Jennie has grown quite a bit, too - she's going into sixth grade already.
The families of James and Catherine Van Kouwenberg had a family reunion on Saturday at the home of Josie DeFisher in Joy, NY. Some relatives came from as far as Maryland, Texas and Florida. Mrs. DeFisher is doing well after having her pacemaker installed.
Ralph Everdyke did well last week and won at the B Flight of the Presidents Cup Tournament at the Newark Country Club . Way to go, Ralph!
We've been busy visiting the sites and the kids are getting waterlogged in the pool. I'll send you some pictures of the Lumberman's show next week.
The farm markets in Wayne County are brimming with peaches and sweet corn, I hear. The DeLass Greenhouse & Market is holding its Grand Opening next Friday, Sept. 1. You can also head to any number of markets by just taking a drive to Sodus or Sodus Point - from any direction!
When you have events you'd like to share, or fun information such as family reunions, etc. please send them along to me at

Enjoy the last week of the kids summer vacation.
