Grandslam Day at Sodus Point

A fitting end to a great derby will be celebrated on September 10 in Sodus Point. This is the third annual GrandSlam Day, hosted by the Derby Committee and the Wayne County Federation of Sportsmen.

GrandSlam Day will begin at noon in the ballpark on Greig St. and end with the awards ceremony at 4 p.m.

'We plan to have 20 booths and exhibits pertaining to outdoor recreation, food and a special emphasis on kids this year.' stated Chris Kenyon, Outdoor Recreation Promotional Coordinator for Wayne County. A kid's raffle and casting competition are just a few new additions this year. Other special attractions will be the Sheriff s Marine Division and K-9 unit, Clingerman Taxidermy, and Bill Bixby, outdoor artist.

The GrandSlam and Merchants Challenge Derby began on April 1 and will conclude on September 4, but the action is far from over. It's not too late to register. Youth and adult divisions make it fun for the entire family. Registration is available at bait & tackle shops and marinas throughout Wayne County
