Local concerts by Canaltown Chorale

The Canaltown Chorale will present its annual Christmas concert, The Views of Christmas at three performances throughout Wayne County.

The concert on December 8 is at 7:30 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church of Lyons, 11 Queen Street, Lyons.

December 9 concert is at 7 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church (Church and Main Streets) in Palmyra.

The December 10 event starts at 4 p.m. in the Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court in Newark.

A suggested donation of $2 per person will be accepted at the door. The Chorale will perform Nativity Madrigals by Daniel Pinkham, Bach's Cantata No. 142, To Us a Child is Born sung in German, Great is Jehovah by Schubert, Shepherd's Carol by Rutter, and The Three Kings by Cornelius with David Honness as guest soloist. The concert will also include a number of familiar and traditional Christmas Carols.

The Chorale will be under the direction of Gregg S. Christiansen. Richard Crooks will accompany the Chorale on piano and organ. These concerts are made possible in part with public funds from the New York State Council of the Arts' Decentralization Program, which is administered locally by the Wayne County Council of the Arts.
