christmas deocrations All invited to Newark Christmas dinner

Together in Christ of Newark invites everyone to the Community Shared Christmas Dinner on Monday, December 25 at 1 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, South Main Street, Newark. (This is a wheelchair accessible facility.)

The theme each year is 'Don't spend Christmas alone.' Christmas can be a lonely and depressing time for many people. Whether it is because of the loss of a loved one, that you are new to the community, or family and relatives might live far away, or the weather may change your plans.

For some, it is a time that they want to share with others in a caring, giving way. There are those who have no means of preparing a meal because they live in a room with no kitchen facilities. This dinner meets the needs of many.

Everyone receives a gift donated by the community and a poinsettia, provided by a local florist. Meals are delivered to shut-ins and transportation is provided in Newark and Arcadia for those who do not have transportation or are unable to walk the distance.

This is the 28th year that Newark has had this dinner on Christmas Day. Along with the food, people get fellowship, love, caring and sharing. If transportation is needed in the Newark area, please call Paul Murphy, 331.3255; for meal delivering call John or Roberta Mann, 331.7319.

Cash donations can be sent to 'Shared Christmas Dinner' Charter One Savings Bank, Newark.

Help is needed at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 24 to prepare the meal, and at 10 a.m. on Christmas Day to finish the meal, serve and assist in clean up, but most important to provide fellowship.

Anyone interested in volunteering Dec. 24 or 25 please phone Roberta Mann at 331.7319.
