Remembrance service this week in Sodus

While many are busy purchasing gifts, trimming trees, hosting parties and getting ready for family dinner on Christmas Day, there are some who find Christmas a lonely time.

Women and men still grieving after the death of a spouse or parent find the holidays a difficult season. Families separated by divorce or distance do not share the same 'Merry Christmas.' The Season to be Merry for some becomes a season of sorrow and great loneliness.

The Sodus United Methodist Church is offering a Service of Remembrance as a moment to reflect and remember loved ones amidst the rush of the holiday season.

'This Service will give people a place to embrace memories, to light a candle in remembrance of those we love, and to hear again a message of hope,' says the Pastor. 'We can share some simple, yet helpful ways to negotiate the season, particularly when dealing with those wonderful Christmas traditions that no longer carry the same joy.'

The 7:30 p.m. service will be held in the intimate setting of the chapel. The United Methodist is located at the corner of Main Street and Belden Avenue. The public is invited.
