'Remember the Good Old Days' when you attended a school basketball game and the school band was there. And a cornet player continually played 'the charge' when we fell behind in the scoring...and when points were made, you stomped on the bleachers ... and hollered? Remember?

(If you haven't made your Orange Slice Cake yet, you may want to bake it an extra hour, as it is such a heavy cake.)

And I found a good, easy bar-cake recipe for last minute baking. CAN'T LEAVE ALONE BARS. White cake mix (I used orange), 1/3 cup oil, 2 eggs, 1/4 cup butter, 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 1 cup chocolate chips. Mix with fork, cake mix, oil and eggs. Pat half the mixture in 9x13 pan, ungreased. Melt together, butter, condensed milk and chocolate chips. Pour over cake mixture and put rest of cake mixture on top. Swirl with knife. 350 degrees for 20 minutes. (Take small amount of dough and pat flat to place on top.)

Fifteen young people from the United Church, went with their sponsors to Marketplace Mall to help with the Salvation Army drive for clothing, food and monetary gifts for the needy. Some of them appeared on local TV news programs!

The Junior Choir at the Second Reformed Church presented the Ministry of Music on December 10. Their song was titled, Baby's First Christmas.

DECEMBER 11, 1940: Prompt action by men at work saved the barn of Abram DeNering from serious damage by fire Saturday morning. Flames from an overheated part of the corn husking machine ignited nearby hay, but the blaze was soon brought under control by those present.
