Wow, what a strong wind the other day! I was outside fighting with my trash cans and wondering why aren't we living in Florida where I'd be warm? But I should be getting used to the weather of New York after the length of time I've lived in it.

Are you ready for Christmas? I got the kids Advent calendars so every day they tell me how many (or how few) days there are left.

Diane DelPapa wrote to me and told me her son will be arriving from college for the Holidays and they will be coming back to the area for Christmas. Diane and her family now live in North Carolina and the school has had one snow day already. (Diane, I'm sure home we'll have snow for you for the holidays... definitely a White Christmas.

There will be a blood drive at the Sodus High School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 16.

There's a Cookie Walk tomorrow, too - at the Sodus United Methodist Church, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Tomorrow night, there's a special Christmas production at the East Williamson Free Methodist Church at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, December 17 get your blankets and enjoy the Christmas Fireworks that will be going on at 6 p.m. at the Wallington Fire Hall on Old Ridge Rd. (If you see Fred, say 'hi' for me.)

The Sodus High School holiday concert is Monday night at 7:30 p.m.

There will be a Christmas dinner at the Sodus Nutrition site on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 11:30 a.m. The site is at the United Methodist Church, West Main St.. (Use the door from the parking lot in the rear of the church, downstairs and to the right.)

cat flag I think there's still time to nominate houses for the Sodus Chamber of Commerce Decorating contest. Just call 483.7256 or e-mail jhopkins@eznet.net

For those who are having a difficult season, there will be a quiet Christmas service Tuesday night at the First Reformed Church of Sodus on Maple Ave. The 7:30 p.m. service is especially for those in mourning , or for others who are feeling grief and in need of peace and comfort.

Please write to me at

and we'll share with others.

Have a great week and try not to let things get you too stressed. I hope to hear from you soon.
