Missing Sodus
Well, the extra snow doesn't help us with last-minute trips to the store, now does it? Of course, New York has been known for snow, hasn't it. I think snow is fun to look at in movies or in a book, but the sliding around, being cold and shoveling... Ralph Everdyke said it was 38 degrees the other morning in Florida, but promised to warm up. (When we get 38 degrees now, it seems like a heat wave!) Helen Phillips said there was about 8 inches of snow in Sodus on Wednesday - a good day to stay inside and warm. She also mentioned to me that Father Gonyo of the Church of the Epiphany would be having a l0:30 p.m. Mass on Christmas instead of the midnight one. Many people of the area are very pleased with Father Gonyo and are impressed by his interest in the youth of the Parish. A new Sodus Little League field is being constructed on Wallington Fire Dept. property, and donations are welcome. Whether or not you received a letter in the mail, please consider sponsoring this worthwhile youth project. You can mail your donations to P.O. Box 44, Sodus Point, NY 14555. Robin at the Williamson Library has informed me of the Harry Potter party to be held at the Library on Wednesday, December 27 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. (Have you had the chance to read the Harry Potter books with your kids? Read them even if you don't have kids.) All are invited for a New Year's Eve Party with Harry Potter himself! The afternoon promises creative crafts, adventurous games, delectable refreshments and many fun surprises for all! Make one of Professor Snape's potions and look into 2001 as Harry would with a little help from Professor Trelawney! Take the Hogwart Express to the Williamson Public Library. Wear a costume and receive a special prize! For more info, call the library at 589.2048. This time of year, as you check things off of your 'to do' list, take a deep breath - fit in a Holiday Storytime with your kids, enjoy the decorations and lights on your tree, cuddle up on the couch and enjoy the season. If you have a fun event after Christmas, maybe for NewYear's, send along the information to me at Hope to hear from you soon. Have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS !
