Chocolate Fest at Newark Library

chocolate barDoes this snow seem never-ending? Shovel yourself out and come to the Newark Public Library's 9th annual Chocolate Festival. Come join your fellow chocoholics and lift your spirits with chocolate goodies on Tuesday, February 15. The day will include a variety of chocolate filled activities.

At 3 p.m., there will be a showing of the movie 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' in the community room.

New this year will be a Brownie-Baking Contest. Participants will be judged in three catagories: kids 16 and under, women, and men. All entries should be dropped off at the library by 3 p.m. that day (along with the recipe).

Also new this year will be a chocolate dessert hour. At 7 p.m. in the community room, they will be serving a wide variety of chocolate desserts for a $5 cover charge. The winner of the Brownie-Baking Contest will be announced at the dessert hour.

To go along with the chocolate theme, there will also be a chocolate candy making class at 7 p.m. in the board room. Christine Stephens of Newark will teach how to make molded chocolates for any occasion. There is no cost for the class, but pre-registration is recommended.

There will be a raffle for a chocolate-filled goodie basket.

The Newark Public Library is located at 121 High St. All proceeds benefit the library. For details or to sign up for the chocolate making class, call 331.4370.
