bowling pinAlley Art 2000 coming to WCCA

Opening at the Wayne County Council for the Arts Gallery (2 Broad St., Lyons) on April 1 is Alley Art 2000: Another Bowling PINvitational.

Bowling pins, donated by Parkview Lanes in Wolcott, are now available at WCCA for serious area artists to creatively modify as they see fit.

The pins are made of a hard wood with a hard plastic shell covering them. WCCA has 100 - free of charge to anyone who will put them to good artistic use.

Artists are encouraged to add to or subtract from, paint, carve, or electrify. There are no parameters except that people have fun (the show does open on April Fool's Day) and be creative.

'The original PINvitational in 1998 was a huge success,' said Kevin Schoonover. Dozens of people participated and the end results were some of the most interesting and unique sculpture ever shown in this gallery.'

The exhibit will be judged and awards (in the form of 'artistically enhanced ,disused bowling trophies') will be presented. People's Choice ballots will also be available at the opening allowing you to vote for your favorite.

Pins may be picked up at the Arts Council during regular business hours (please call ahead while WCCA undergoes this period of transition between directors). They are available on a first come-first served basis. Completed artwork should be returned to the Arts Council during the last week in March.
