Public input wanted for Montezuma Complex

A draft Management Plan for the Montezuma Wetlands Complex has been released for public review and comment. The plan describes wildlife habitat conservation objectives in the Montezuma Wetlands Complex, located in portions of Wayne, Seneca and Cayuga Counties.

The Montezuma Wetlands Complex Project is a land conservation and management project jointly sponsored by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, N.Y.S. Department of Environmental Conservation and Ducks Unlimited, Inc. under the auspices of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan and the 1991 Northern Montezuma Wetlands Project Final Environmental Impact Statement. The Management Plan describes the background of the MWC Project, its mission, goals, objectives and strategies relating to the conservation of wildlife habitat in central NY.

Copies of the draft Management Plan are available for review February 7 through March 31 at the following locations:

  • Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge office (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.)

The deadline for receipt of written comments is March 31.
