Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

valentine calendarAnother week of winter behind us. Before we know it, we will hear the spring birds singing. Won't it be nice to be able to open a window and not freeze? I can't wait to feel some warm sunshine and get rid of all the weight of big coats and boots!

My condolences to the families of Leonard and Mary Alice Pilaroscia. They were both wonderful people. If you'd like, you can make a contribution to the Alzheimers Association, Sodus Town Ambulance Corps or to the Sodus Free Library in their memory.

Take your bottles to Breen's IGA in Sodus tomorrow (Saturday). Boy Scout Troop 125 will be there from 9 to 3.

The Wallington Fire Department's Pancake Breakfast will be this Sunday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Next Saturday, the Sodus Rotary Club will hold a Blood Drive at the Church of the Epiphany. Donate between 9 and 2.

The Sodus Free Library has some new Award winning books. The Award winner for outstanding childrens literature is Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis

Caldecott Medal Award books:

  • A Child's Calendar Illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman
  • Joseph Had a Little Overcoat byTaback Simms (the award winner for the most outstanding illustration.)

If you have any trouble finding these at the library, please tell Carol. She'll be happy to help you.

valentine flagDon't forget the Storytimes at the Williamson Library Lapsit (for the little ones) Mondays at l0:30 on February 14 & 28, March 6 & 20. Pre-school Storytime will be Wednesdays beginning at l0:30, February 2 through the 23rd.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send me the information about their events and fun crafts to make. It's fun to hear from all of you. If you haven't sent things in, it's never too late to share. Many times people who lived in Sodus and have moved can still feel they are a part of your lives. Write to me at:

Birthdays for this week: Tom White on the 13th (gosh, I'd better go shopping!).

Have a Happy Valentine's Day. Enjoy your week. Spring's coming! Soon I hope...
