Newark to basketball playoffs

The Newark girls (pictured) defeated Penn Yan last night, 58-43. Kadi Burgess had 18 points, seven rebounds; Angie Perillo scored 15 points; and Nicole Milliman had 12 points and six rebounds. Newark plays at No. 2 Honeoye Falls-Lima Saturday.

The Newark boys clinched the No. 3 seed with a 68-56 win over the Geneva Panthers last week. They will play Friday, 7 p.m. at home. The Class BB Sectional game will be televised LIVE on FLTV Cable Channel 12. The winner of the Newark-Geneva game will go to Rochester's Blue Cross Arena on Monday for an 8:45 p.m. game.

(The time of Saturday's Girls game against HF-L will be announced during Friday night's boys' game. Note, however, that the girls' game will not be televised.)
