Newark girls lose to Penfield

The Newark High School girls basketball team lost 40-38 to Penfield in the Newark Tournament last Wednesday.

Penfield took the early 11-10 lead, and Newark led 24-21 at halftime. Penfield bounced back in the third period to lead 31-30.

Penfield had the ball with 20 seconds left, missed a shot, and Angie Perillo tried a jumpshot from the baseline, missing it. She had 16 points in the game, with Nicole Milliman (pictured) scoring 12. For Penfield, Ashley McMillan scored 16 and Laura Talbott had 10. Talbott would be voted Tournament MVP.

Burgess and Milliman both made the All Tournament Team, along with Niki Sanchez of Wayne, Ashley Parish of Kearney, and Penfield's McMillan and Talbott.
