Missing Sodus
It is getting soooo chilly here, I received a note from Eileen Hooper, who now lives in Florida. She said the weather is in the 60's there. (How cold has it been here? I'll trade with her.) In Maui, the temperature was supposed to get up to 78 degrees. Patty from Maui and her family got to watch a mother whale teaching her baby to breach. In Maui, they have vog instead of fog. The vog comes from the volcano and looks like fog. Al Dobbin, who has been selling bags of shrimp for l8 years for the Chorus of the Genesee, sold a total of l80 (3-lb.) bags this year! Great job, Al. (I made chocolate chip cookies the other day but it was too far for the kids to walk over to deliver them to you. I thought of you, though.) Diane DelPapa, who now lives in North Carolina, and her husband were in Wayne county visiting Mom and Dad in Wolcott. She mentioned that the snow is always pretty to see but that they were glad to drive out of it. (Snow is a nice place to visit, but it's tough when it stays for a few months.) On January 8, there will be a Chirstmas Tree Bonfire at the Wolcott Fire Hall, West Port Bay Rd. at 6 p.m. Sunday, January 16 there will be a Hot cakes and Sausage breakfast to benefit the Timothy L. Barber Memorial Scholarship at the Williamson McDonalds. (You don't have to fix breakfast!) To Be Announced: Be on the lookout for more info about the Winter Wonderland program at the Williamson Central School. It will be the 5th annual event with ice skating, cross country skiing, snow sculpturing, sleigh and bobsled rides, as well as food , games and activities inside. Sounds like fun. The event will take place at l0 a.m. For more info, call 315.754.6512 and watch your local papers. Looking for a storytime for your little ones? Sodus Library has one on Monday mornings at l0:30 with Mrs. Combes. You can pick up some books while the children listen to the stories (or sometimes it's nice just to cuddle up on the carpet and listen). Make Today Count Cancer Action support group meets at 8:30 p.m. every second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at the Father Cavanaugh Parish Center. Church of the Epiphany on l05 West Main Street in Sodus. If you have anything you'd like to share, write to me at I'd love to hear from you. It's nice to know what everyone's been up to. Perhaps you'd like to share your New Year's resolution. (I'm going to lose weight. So far, I've been taking salads to school. The only problem is the chocolate chip cookies are waiting for me when I get home...) Have a great week. Copyright © 2000 |
