Think spring! Itineraries are in for a trip to the Holland Tulip Festival, May 15-18. If you are interested, call Isabelle Bushart at 926.7764. Sponsored by Marion Seniors Happy Travelers. Everyone welcome.

The Bushart family celebrated Christmas on January 1, with an afternoon and evening gathering at the home of Stan and Isabelle Bushart. They enjoyed gifts, games, football and food! Besides the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, special guests were Peg Pembroke of Marion, and Rev. and Mrs. Russell Johnson of Russell, PA.

I had a call asking why the downtown streets and sidewalks are all dirtied with leaves and trash?

The American Red Cross held their Donor 17 Blood Drive at the Marion High School. Once again this program turned out to be a great success! 56 students and five staff members attempted to donate. A total of 54 pints were collected. This drive was a great success the considering that the goal was set at 40 pints. Special thanks to Mr. Christie, who emphasizes to his students the importance of community service.

January 21: Family Roller Skating Party sponsored by the Marion PTA. 7-8:30 p.m. in the Elementary School gym. All kids must be accompanied by an adult.

Because of illness the January 5 meeting of the Richard Chapter OES was canceled. Installation of Officers will take place at the next scheduled meeting on January 19. For more information call Berenice Sewert at 926.5312.

On the evening of December 31, our family gathered for an evening of delicious snacks right up to the hour of January 1, 2000. A puzzle of 1500 pieces was put together in stages as it had to be worked on at the kitchen table. After celebrating the New Year, everyone found sleeping space on the three floors of the family home. The next morning all arose at their own schedule. Another puzzle was opened (and is still being worked on) at the kitchen table, and everyone enjoyed a turkey dinner with the trimmings. HAPPY 2000 TO EVERYONE.

JANUARY 22, 1948: Father's Night will be observed by the Marion Parent Teachers Assn. next Wednesday and the topic will be 'Fathers Are Important.'

"Junk is something you keep a long time, then toss away a week before you need it."

January 29, 7 p.m. - Scarlet Thread Ministries presents The Roots Coffeehouse at Mill Street in Sodus. If you are in your 20's, in college, or a recent college graduate, single, married, or dating, and looking for Christian fellowship, the coffeehouse is the place for you. Admission is $4. Join the group for music, food and fellowship.

We received a New Year's greeting call from Win and Marion Cheal in Florida. Hello! to all and the temperature was in the 70's!

Harold and Eleanor Schoonerman held a family open house in celebration of the YEAR 2000. The entire family of children and grandchildren came on Dec. 31 to the Newark Road family home for the evening's festivities and banquet.

Where are the stairs that they promised us last year, that go on the bleachers in the High School gym?
