Catholic schools seek retired teachers

St. Michael School in Newark, along with other area Catholic schools, is looking for experienced, retired public school teachers and administrators to consider working full time, part time or substitute teach in their system.

Presently, many of these schools are hiring retired New York State teachers, because of their expertise and previous experience. At St. Michael School in Newark, Larry Owens, retired Marion High School principal and science teacher, is teaching science to students in grades 5-8.

Fred Smith, a retired Syracuse public school administrator, is the principal of St. Mary's School in Waterloo.

Lou Rizzieri, a retired public school administrator, is the principal of St. Patrick's School in Seneca Falls.

Dr. Jerry Benjamin, retired public school administrator, is the principal at St. Agnes School in Avon.

Dan Skinner, retired public school administrator, is the principal of DeSales High School in Geneva.

Joe Dan Tipps, Jim O'Neal and Ted Mullen, retired public school teachers, are teaching full time and part time at DeSales.

If you are retired or are retiring soon from the public school system and are interested in this possibility, you may call Sister Virginia Steinwachs at 716.328.3210 extension 294. Sister Virginia is the assistant superintendent of personnel for the Diocese of Rochester.
