Missing Sodus Well, it's been another snowy week. When will it ever end? I was out in it today, sliding around trying to get groceries. The people who love snow must now have enough to keep them happy, right? Diane Hixson-DelPapa had mentioned everyone's excitement in North Carolina. (Snow is such a novelty there. Bet they are getting tired of it, too. Diane probably woke up and thought she was dreaming about being in Wayne County. Pretty soon, the Groundhog will come out and, hopefully, have promising news. Keep your fingers crossed.) And speaking of Groundhog Day, the Annual Dutch Supper of the Pultneyville Historical Society will be held Wednesday, February 2 at 6:30 p.m. Bring a dish to pass and your own table service. It will be held in the Fellowship room of the Pultneyville Reformed Church. Don't miss it.
The Make Today Count Cancer Action support group meets from 7-8:30 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at the Father Cavanaugh Parish Center next to the Church of the Epiphany on West Main St., Sodus. If you've always wanted to go for your GED but just never got around to it, here's your opportunity. There are free GED classes on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon at the First Reformed Church in Sodus. If you can't make the morning classes, there are evening classes at the Sodus Elementary School on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30-9:30 p.m. It's a big step, but an important one. Take advantage of this opportunity. You won't be sorry. There is a Support Group meeting for spouses, children and close friends of Nursing Home Residents of the Blossom View Nursing Home. Meeting are at 3:30 p.m. every third Tuesday on Maple Avenue. For more information, call 483.9118 from 9 to 5. (It's nice to know you can have your questions and concerns addressed.)
If you have special events coming up, birthdays, storytimes, etc. please send them along so others will get the news. You can write to me at: Speaking of Storytime, I haven't heard from Carol in a bit. She must still be buried under all those new books and paperwork. I know the Williamson Library has some books to share. I'll find out and let you know. I'm sure Carol is in shock with all this snow. She just came back from Florida not long ago and it's harder to adjust. (I'm just envious because I was left behind to shovel.) We have some books to share with you. If you find one you really love please write to me and we'll share. (You can save someone else all the legwork and leg cramps of sitting on the floor at the libraries going through every book. )
Have a great week, stay warm and don't forget to write. Thanks to everyone who has been sharing and to all those I know will be sharing soon. Copyright © 2000 |
