Wayne County Tourist for a day...

Last Wednesday, 50 people took part in a 'Be A Tourist For A Day' program and embarked on a tour to discover the treasures of Wayne County. This is sponsored by the Wayne County Office of Tourism and organized this year by Joan Delaro, Group Tour Coordinator for the county. The tour is designed to help enlighten and familiarize Wayne County residents on the treasures we have to offer a visitor.

Departing from Pine Hill Orchards in Lyons, the group visited Sodus Point Lighthouse Museum, Historic Palmyra, Pultneyville Historical Museum and the Erie Canal Cultural Center. Along the way, they drove by the Latter Day Saints Temple, the historic Wolcott Hotel, LW Emporium and Burnap's Farm Market. Marjory Perez, Director of Tourism, discussed the history of Lock Berlin, Wayne County Parks and the Underground Railroad.

One participant from Lyons stated, 'I grew up in Lyons, but you haven't seen Wayne County until you have been a tourist.'
