Trip to Europe planned for students

Have you ever dreamed of taking a tour of the famous cities of Europe? Of seeing Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the canals of Venice, and the Collosseum, of Rome? Of experiencing German pastries and Spanish Flamenco? How about Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and Michelangelo's David? Next summer, area high school students will have the opportunity to participate in such a trip.

Newark High School teacher Joe Contario is organizing a 20-day, six-country tour of Europe. Contario, who has taught Western Civilization at FLCC and is Newark's AP European History teacher, is making his seventh tour of Europe with students. The trip, which is open to high school students, will visit the cities of London, Paris, Heidelberg, Lucerne, Venice, Rome, Florence, Nice, Barcelona and Madrid. Scheduled visits include the Louvre and Notre Dame in Paris, the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, the Forum and the Colosseum in Rome, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and many more famous sights.

The tour includes all air and ground transportation, a full-time tour director, accommodations in 3-and 4-star hotels, breakfasts and dinners daily, and guided city sightseeing tours of all the major stops. There will be a few places available for adults.

An information meeting will be held at the Newark Public Library on Tues., July 25 at 6:30 p.m. For more information call 331.2449.
