Happenings On July 13, Eileen Ballesty entertained friends on her patio with a luncheon given in honor of Doris Whitmore, visiting from Anaheim, CA. Guests were Dot Mueller, Ginny Christianson, Jan LeClair, Mary Byrnes, Loretta Bartlett, Marian Gardner, Alice Floss and Anne Marion. All had a wonderful afternoon playing cards and having tea. Another birthday lunch for Gordon Adriaansen in honor of his 70th birthday, at Shadow Lake with Rog and Gen. THANKS to those in our community who are supporting our young folks with the purchase of the Legion Baseball cookbook. Kids In Motion, a creative movement class for children ages 3-6, is accepting registrations for its Fall session. Classes will be held Friday mornings; call 926.0810. Chuck and June VerPlank had guests from Norcross, GA at their Witherden Road home. Daughter Peter and Marsha Gillens and children, Ian, Dana and Michaela. They enjoyed a Fourth of July family picnic, miniature golf and activities including the swimming pool. Birthdays were celebrated with Ian on the 5th and Dana on the 4th. Grandma made a Power Ranger cake for Ian and a Barbie birthday cake for Dana! All enjoyed cake and ice cream and a campfire where they roasted marshmallows for s'mores. July 4 picnic was held at the home of Chuck and June VerPlank. Attending were Susanne, Heather and Sarah Milliman; Chuck, Val, Lisa, Zac and Lizzie VerPlank from Newark; Dale, Phyllis and Christina Bliek from Marion; Peter, Marsha, Ian, Dana and Michaela Gillens from Georgia; Roger and Marcia VerPlank from Marion; James DeVoogt of Marion. Christmas decorations and ornaments all on sale. August 6 - Antique and classic Car Cruise-In, at same address, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring your car in for the people to admire. JULY 29, 1943: A doll parade will take place this Friday afternoon at the Community Playground which opened Monday under the auspices of the Community Council. Prizes will be awarded.
