Stuart exhibit opens in Newark

The Arcadia Historical Museum's 2nd Annual Open House and the grand opening of a new exhibit will take place the weekend of Newarkfest, June 10-11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

The museum's new special exhibit is many artifacts from the C.H. Stuart Co. of Newark, dating from the 1860s to 1970s. Included will be early bottles, tins, various salesman's kits, Sarah Coventry and Emmons jewelry, Stuart Co. china, silver flatware and much more.

Also featured during the weekend will be a Civil War encampment with soldiers in uniform and a nurse, who will be located both inside and outside the museum. Cpl. Christopher M. McLellan, 1st Sgt. Donald J. Martens, Dawn Jendrick, and Capt. Frank VanVerlou, Jr. will be on hand to talk to visitors and show arms and equipment. The encampment and presentations will be conducted on Saturday (10-5) and Sunday (noon-4).
