 Forty-seven years of water in the basement; will it never end?

June 9 is the Town Library's annual Spring Book and More Sale. The sale will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

Marion Art Teachers Mark Erb and Janet Kraus are having a Student Art Exhibition at the High School from June 5-9. Student art work (grades 7 through 12) will be on display in the main halls of the school.

June 5, 1941: Betty Nye and Marianne Marion are on the committee in charge of the Marion Junior Prom on June 6.

Happy birthday to Bev Layton on June 4.

PTA meeting at 7 p.m. on June 1 in the Faculty Room.

June 2: grades K-4 Vocal Concert at 1:30 p.m. in the Elementary School.

June 6 - Eighth Grade Recognition Night.

Music Department Awards will be given on June 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the High School auditorium.

June 8 - End of Year and Spring Athletic Awards: dinner at 6 p.m. and awards presentation at 7 p.m.

June 9 - Cabaret Night at 8 p.m. in the school gym

Evelyn Petty is planning a June 6 bus trip which includes a guided city tour of Buffalo, stopping and shopping at Oliver's Candies and a luncheon cruise on the Niagara River aboard The Grand Lady. On August 2, a Wednesday trip to Rochester. Visit Stone Tolen House, a 19th century tavern and farmhouse, and the Spring House; also visit Lamberton Conservatory and High Falls. Marion Seniors Happy Travelers: Two identical trips are planned for Otter Lake 'Rail and Sail.' They are on July 12 and August 2. This gives us room for more people to go. Call Isabelle at 926.7764 for details. If anyone who is signed up for July 12 wants to change, please let me know. The $67 cost is due by June 23. There is still room on the Watkins Glen cruise on August 23. Cost is $55 and is due by August 5.

Congratulations to the cast members of Anything Goes, for their excellent participation in the ELENBE awards. Special congratulations to Kyle Haak for being selected Best Supporting Actor.

The Rural School Teachers enjoyed a delicious luncheon on Tuesday, the 23rd, at the Pine Hill Orchards complex. This establishment is found on Route 14 North, out of Lyons. All chose the soup and sandwich and some even had dessert! They have produce and flowers for sale and a large assortment of bulk foods and gifts for sale.

Tammy Bove and Jane Ballesty took part in a fashion show and tea titled, 'Shield of Light,' over the weekend. This was held at Keenan's Restaurant in Irondequoit, with proceeds going to underprivileged children. The women belong to an organization called PAVE - Partners Against Violence Everywhere. This program was a Camp Good Days and Special Times initiative.

Hen-Dar's Meat Market has moved from Marion to Newark, on West Union Street. Same delicious meats and courteous service. Bulk foods. And big hamburgs and sausages are ready for lunch beginning at 11 a.m.

Welcome Home! To Dan and Mary Filibert. We miss you when you're away.

June Young has returned from a visit with her son and family, Tim and Mary Ann, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was there at the dedication of the National Memorial to those who were killed and to those who survived the bombing in that city. June was also visiting at the time that the bombing took place, making it very meaningful.

Zoe Bovet, accompanied by Mary Jane Healy, recently returned from a weekend trip in the New York City area, where they toured Ellis Island and The Statue of Liberty. While at Ellis Island Zoe searched for the immigration records of her father, Cyriel Batsleer, who came to this country from Belgium around 1905. However, she was unable to find any information about him. It had been some time since she had visited that area and was intrigued with the size of the statue and the meaning of those who passed through Ellis Island.

On Monday, June 12 there will be a chicken barbecue at the Second Reformed Church. Proceeds will benefit programs of the Youth of the church.

Virginia Lupold is now planning an overnight bus trip to the Kingston, Ontario area for July 17 and 18. This includes Continental breakfast, tour, lunch and parade at Fort Henry. This is followed by a dinner cruise and entertainment on board the Island Star. There will be a guided tour of Kingston and a visit to Upper Canada Village. Call her at 597.4372.
