Marion teacher wins Innovation Award

Sue ClarkMarion teacher Sue Clark has received the Russell A. Sibley Teacher Innovation Award for Educational Excellence from the Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Greater Rochester.

A plaque and a $500 check were presented to Clark at the club's annual meeting and awards dinner on May 25. The award honors her ingenuity and creativity in the classroom.

Clark teaches eighth-grade social studies. The award was based on two projects she conducts each year with students.

One is the 'Big Business Game,' in which students form companies that compete in a free-market environment.

The other project is 'Company Town' in which students play the roles of people in the imaginary company town of Brattsville to learn what life was like in company towns of the 19th century.
