The Sons of the American Legion Squad 1430 golf tournament and dinner are held June 17 at Taranwould Golf Course. Fun begins at noon. Elmer and Violet Overslaw of Jefferson, Texas, were treated to lunch at Canalside Inn in Newark on June 6. Those of their '48 graduating class who could attend came for lunch and conversation. Thanks for the wonderful support that the community contributed to the annual Marion Letter Carriers' Food Drive. You have made a difference in someone's life. More than 1000 pounds of food was given for the Food Pantry. Some people donated food on each day of the drive. Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary Wishes to Bob and Judy Young on June 11. June 16 - 'School's Out' is the theme at Shoeshine Johnny's from 8-11:30 p.m. A $4 donation includes a night of great entertainment, dessert and unlimited access to the coffee/juice bar. June 16: Fifth Grade Field Days June 19: Sixth Grade Field Days and Graduation at 7 p.m. at the elementary school June 20: Elementary School Picnic Day; June 21 - Elementary Moving Up Day JUNE 12, 1947 - Junior Class has elected these officers to serve during their senior year at Marion High: Richard Derr, president; Gordon Adriaansen, vice president; Rosemary Doyle, secretary; Earl DeWispelaere, treasurer; Dolores Page, reporter; Roger Tellier, Student Council representative.
