Happenings By Carolyn Adriaansen (926-4436) Marion's 'Growing Friends 4-H Group' will be holding a baked food sale on June 24 from 10 until noon at the Marion Shurfine store on North Main Street. Pastor and Evelyn Tsianiklides, of Athens, Greece, were welcomed at the Second Reformed Church on June 18, by members of the church and guests. Pastor Tsianiklides is a former Pastor of this church. In honor of Father's Day, Nell Turner presented an open letter to her Mother and Father during the morning worship service at the Second Reformed Church. Jim DeVoogt has had successful eye surgery. June 26 is National Chocolate Pudding Day! JUNE 22, 1922: Robert Crowther, visiting his father-in-law, James White, on Sunday had an exciting experience on his way here when the train ran into a water filled tunnel at Syracuse. He was fortunate enough to escape without losing any more than a sock and shoe. June 23 - Senior Class Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Final Commencement Rehearsal 9 a.m. Commencement Exercises 8 p.m. Admission by ticket only. Senior Bash immediately following graduation. June 26-28 will be Kindergarten screening, for vision and hearing. 'We are judged by how we finish, not by how we start.' Isabelle Bushart has called to say the trip to Watkins Glen has been cancelled, but the tour to Beck's Grove with Onondaga Coach on August 22 is set to go. There is a discount for Marion residents. Call her at 926.7764. Granddaughter Heidi and Greg Boyko of Cape Coral, Florida, along with children, Kimberly, Michael and Christina, have been spending time with Iva Benton. THANKS to everyone who supported the Second Reformed Church's Youth Group Chicken Barbecue. The United Church held their Children's Day worship service and picnic at Casey Park on June 4. Church School Superintendents, Lori Mulhern and Linda Schutt and their husbands, Time and Steve were thanked for their wonderful organization of the event, a fitting conclusion for their church school year. A reception honoring Dads and Graduates was held at the United Church on June 18. Stuart Mitchell was the guest preacher. Better Than Potato Salad 1 cup converted rice 2 cups mayo or salad dressing 2 cups diced celery 1 medium onion, finely chopped 4 teas. prepared mustard 1/2 teas. salt 4 hard-cooked eggs, chopped 8 radishes, sliced 1 cucumber, pared and diced Cook rice according to package directions. Transfer to large bowl. Cover and chill. Add mayo, celery, onion, mustard and salt to chilled rice; mix well. Cover and chill. Stir in remaining ingredients before serving. 6-8 servings. Copyright
