By Melissa White

Finally all the tests are over and the kids are all home for a summer vacation. The end of the school year brought Fair Day last Friday, and Wednesday was a Harry Potter party for most of the third graders. (Those Harry Potter books are great!)

At the Middle School Award Ceremony, John Castle received an award for Academic Achievement and, in Social Studies, he received the Hoffman Award. Congratulations, John on a job well done. Rick and Karen Castle are grandparents once again. Lisa had a baby daughter, Nichole, in May.

Sodus High Commencement is tomorrow at noon on the school lawn. If it rains, graduation ceremonies will be held in the auditorium. Kristin Hendrix is the Valedictorian, and Erica Mayou, the Salutatorian. Congratulations to all of the grads.

Williamson Class of '85 is planning its 15th Reunion, and is looking for several classmates. In the meantime, the 9th Annual Williamson All-Alumni Picnic will be held July 8 at B. Forman Park in Pultneyville. The Class of 1954 is hosting this year's event, which will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Bring a dish to pass, table service and non-alcoholic beverage.

beach Don't forget to sign up for the Summer Reading Program at the Williamson Library, you'll have a summer of reading fun! Registration begins on Monday, June 26 and is entirely free. The theme this year is Space Age. Check out the night sky and record what you see to earn an extra Space Buck! The program includes two storytime fun guests. The first one is on July 11, and you can enjoy songs, skits, magic and a big blue puppet named George.

Mark you calendars. Sodus Point will have a Fire Department Jamboree on the Bay, beginning with a parade on June 30 at 7 p.m. On July 1, there is the annual Sink-A-Boat competition; Kiddie Parade at 10 a.m.; live entertainment during the day; the Wall of Fire at 9:30 p.m. and fireworks at l0 p.m. Sounds like a great way to spend the day.

Sodus Point will have the lifeguards at the beach daily during July and August. There are many fun things to do at the beach and the lifeguards keep everyone safe. The beach has a playground, a picnic area, bath house, snack area and restrooms - a great way to spend the day with your family, it's also fun to walk down the beach to collect pretty stones and watch the boats. If you sit really still on the benches, you may see a baby duck or two. We always enjoyed going in the morning or around dusk to watch the sunset. We miss our visits to the beach. We spent a lot of our time there.

seagull Get your lawn chairs ready, the concerts by the lighthouse will begin July 4 - another great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
