Continental Army display in Wolcott

The Wolcott Historical Society presents on July 8, from 11-5 a Continental Army display, in the Wolcott Park on New Hartford St.

An antique & craft show will take place in the park from 9 to 5.

The Continental Arms Collectors Association's Revolutionary War Interpretive Unit offers a first-hand glimpse of our Nation's colorful and significant military history. Armed, clothed, and equipped with authentic period reproductions, the Unit typifies a detachment from a Continental Line New York Infantry Regiment in the waning stages of the American Revolution.

Under the command of 'Captain' George M. Clark, this unit will perform an inspection, Learn More! manual exercise, and firings as they would have been done by the Continental Main Army.

The Unit's authentic drill techniques were researched utilizing primary source information in the form of General Fredric Von Steuben's Regulations for the Order and Discipline of the Troop of the United States. Von Steuben's regimented, exacting tactics and drills were introduced in the battle of Monmouth Courthouse in the Summer of 1778, and were implemented by the Main Continental army throughout the remainder of the Revolution.
