Belinda McElroy & Gerry PalmerSodus Bay on display at Boat Show

Armed with a new brochure, the Great Sodus Bay Association attended the Rochester and Syracuse Boat Show the first and third week of February.

The new color brochure boasts the Great Sodus Bay as the Crown Jewel of Lake Ontario with all its natural beauty, country charm and the many things to do and visit year round.

The brochure is filled with color pictures depicting Chimney Bluffs State Park, the Lighthouse Museum, fruit farm markets, fishing, sailing, cross country skiing, gift shops, and more. The brochure was handed out to some 5000 boat show attendees.

Volunteers from the Great Sodus Bay Association assembled the booth and greeted the boat show attendees. The booth showed scenes around the Great Sodus Bay as well as a map of its location. Most people know the location of Great Sodus Bay.

As they entered the showroom floor volunteers were enthusiastic about telling anyone who wanted to know all about Great Sodus Bay. Attending the show also gave the Great Sodus Bay Association members the opportunity to get information out about their own establishments. Having a booth at the boat shows also gave new and current boat owners a destination for the owner and their new boats.

Several Great Sodus Bay Association members donated individual door prizes from their establishments that boat-show guest could enter a chance to win one of approximately 20 door prize drawings. Overnight stays at one of the areas bed and breakfast, discounts at area restaurants, boat slips, T-shirts, hats, boat chairs, boat tune ups, discounts for fishing charters are just a few of the many items donated by the association members.

Although the brochure does not promote any one particular business, it does tell the potential visitor that once they get to Great Sodus Bay that they will find lodging, restaurants, marinas, shopping, historic places to visit and more. These places are just a few minutes in either direction whether you go east or west of the bay. However, the Association plans to print an insert to the new brochures listing all members and a calendar of events around the bay.
