Happenings By Carolyn Adriaansen (926-4436) Thirteen youths at the United Church participated in the 30 Hour Famine in Canandaigua. They raised money for World Vision Intl., a Christian relief agency. On Saturday they were involved in service projects around Canandaigua. More than 50 youths took part in the 30 Hour Famine at the Second Reformed Church. Around $1900 was pledged for World Vision, and 20 bags of groceries were given to the food pantry. Kevin and Denise Switzer announce the Feb. 25 birth of Jonathan Dylan. A Lenten banner was introduced at the United Church. It will be the focus of the children's sermons during Lent. Delia Johnson remains in the Newark hospital. Don't ever become so busy that you fail to realize how very happy you are. The elementary school will host the History Jamboree on April 1, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Marion Museum will be open during those hours. Dorothy McKenna Mitchell is recuperating at the Fairport Home. She had suffered a broken hip. Amy Davis and her mother Thelma Vandermolen went to New York City and enjoyed the play Chicago. They also toured the Statue of Liberty. They stayed with Meredith and Grant Mark. An authentic Dutch dinner will be held at East Palmyra Christian School, on Friday, March 24. The all-you-can-eat ethnic buffet will serve from 5-7:30 p.m. in the school's gym. Prepared by authentic Dutch cooks, the menu includes Snert (pea soup), Gehaktballetjes (meatball soup), Dutch Lettuce, Hutspot (carrots, potatoes, onions), Worst (sausage), Boerenkool (Kale, potatoes), sauerkraut and bacon, Olie Bollen, Banket (almond pastry), and Oran Koek (orange cake). Reservations are needed by March 22 and can be made by calling the school office at 597.4400. Adults, $6.75, Under 12, $3.50 and under 5 are free. Take-outs will be available also. The Tour With The Golden Touch...is the Holland (Michigan) Tulip Festival. 4 Days / 3 Nights; May 15-18. Margaret Mattison made the First Team All Stars. Andrea Vaughn and Joette Maynard placed second team All Stars. The United Church is having a chicken & biscuits dinner with homemade pies, Monday, March 20, 4:30-7 p.m. Prices are $6, $5 and $3. MARCH 15, 1951: Rehearsals are underway for the 1951 Rotary presentation of the Gay Nineties Minstrels. In the chorus line are Robert Purchase, Harold Bush, Howard Hance, Harry White and Osborne Roper. Reminder: The 8th grade pasta supper is March 31, 4:30-6:30, tickets $5 and $3. Music and comedy of the Gaylords in Gotta Laugh. March 18 is the Marion Senior Dinner Dance. March 26 is a spaghetti dinner at Maryellen's Restaurant, 3-6 p.m., to benefit the Marion Boy Scouts. This week, Marion Elementary students have artwork on exhibit at Eastview Mall. Artwork may be seen there until Monday. Rich and Mary Adriaansen have returned from a vacation in the sunny South.They had a wonderful time with family members and friends in the Florida sun. They visited with Les and Phyllis Adriaansen in Punta Gorda and with Don and Barb Naeye in Englewood Isles. They played some golf and took a boat ride, stopping to see Bob and Dorothy Lootens and Lloyd and Arlene VanHanegem. In Winter Park with Bill and Nancy Appiohthey toured the Morse MuStum where they saw theTiffany glass and the new chapel that has been moved from New York City. Onward to see Rod and Helen Adriaarisen and Irene Klaeysen with more golf, bingo and eats.
