Montezuma 'Friends' need your help

Friends of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex have projects in need of your help.

Here are some updates on committees and projects:

The facilities and grounds committee needs assistance preparing the Friends Sales Outlet in the refuge Visitor Center.

The committee has set aside the first Sunday of each month as Family Fun Days. After Sunday morning services or a little bird watching, join the Friends as they peck away at the many hands-on work projects.

Sunday, April 2 will be Spring Cleaning Day - the friends will gather up all the unsightly debris that has found its way into our beautiful Complex. This task is rated as easy. Requirements are being able to walk short distances and bend over to pick up trash. A great outdoor project for Friends of all ages. If you are interested in this project, bring your work clothes and gloves, and meet the Friends at the refuge Visitor Center at 1 p.rn. on Sunday, April 2.

There are still two more committee meetings scheduled for March. The education committee will meet on Tuesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. in the refuge Visitor Center. This group will discuss coming educational programs and events that need your help. The group will also discuss ways you can help the Complex promote research such as the ongoing bird banding programs.

The marketing and promotion committee is meeting on Thursday, March 30 at 7 p.m. in the refuge Visitor Center. This group will discuss ways to develop a membership and a fund-raising strategy, in other words, how do we market and promote the conservation efforts of the Complex and the Friends of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex?
