Local students will play All Star

The Greater Rochester High School All-Star Basketball Games to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester, will take place Wednesday (March 22) at the Rochester War Memorial. Tickets will be $5 at the door the night of the game.

The 62 High School girls and boys who will play in this year's game, as well as the 16 Cheerleaders, were selected by representatives and coaches in each of the 14 High School Basketball leagues in Section 5.

Of local interest are Shannon Gaston and Steve Schutt of Marion, and Melissa Buck and Jason Stevens of Clyde Savannah.

Net proceeds from the game will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester. The Ronald McDonald House is a temporary lodging for families with children being treated for serious illnesses at area hospitals. The House provides a 'home away from home' for families who are going through a difficult time and are in need of support.

The double-header on Wednesday, will feature the girls' game at 5 p.m. and the boys' game at 6:30 p.m. A 3-point shoot out will be held during half-time of both games. The Greater Rochester All-Star Cheerleaders will be performing at half-time of the boys' game.
