Seeking birders or nature buffs Naturalists, sportsmen, Bird & Wildlife watchers, and nature buffs or anyone else interested is wanted to help the Sterling Nature Center survey the wildlife of the park. People with a special interest in birds are needed to help with the surveying for the New York State Breeding Bird Atlas. You do not need any special skills or have to be an avid nature buff or birder. You just need to have an interest in wildlife and time to take a walk. The goals of the survey are to find out what wildlife we have at the park and what it is doing here - breeding, migrating through, foraging, etc. This will be the first year of the survey and a chance to build some baseline data. The general survey will take place year round, so even if you don't have time now, keep Sterling in mind throughout the spring, summer, or fall. The breeding bird survey will be a little more involved since it is a statewide project, but will take place mainly during the breeding season. If you are interested in helping, contact Jim D'Angelo, Coordinator of Programs Services at the Sterling Nature Center, P.O. Box 216. Sterling NY, 13156.
