Sodus CROP walk this Sunday

The annual Sodus CROP Walk will take place this Sunday, May 7; starting with 1 p.m. registration and the actual walk beginning at 1:30. CROP Walk raises money for the hungry of the world.

Walk Coordinator, Jeff Sergeant emphasized that 'one-fourth of all funds raised by Sodus CROP walk stays right here in Wayne County. Local agencies that benefit include the Sodus Nutrition Site, Sodus Point United Methodist Church Food Pantry and the Williamson Come-unity Center.'

Walkers recruit sponsors who then make donations for their walker, who completes the six-mile course winding through the village. 'There is also a one-mile course for those who might find six miles beyond their ability,' said Sergeant. Sodus CROP Walk is sponsored by the Sodus Council of Churches and supervised by Church World Service, which also directs some of the funds to hunger and self-help projects across the U.S. and around the world.

We walk because of the many people in the world who must walk each day just to get enough to eat.

Anyone who wishes to participate, or get more information is invited to call 483.9202 or any of the local churches of the Sodus Council Of Churches.
