Lyons grads plan all-night party

On June 23, the Class of 2000 will graduate from Lyons High School. To make sure that the students celebrate their graduation safely, the students and their parents are planning a drug and alcohol-free all-night party.

The students will spend the night at the YMCA in Geneva, using the pool and athletic facilities. There will be a DJ, lots of food, activities, games and prizes. The celebration concludes with a breakfast at the Methodist Church in Lyons.

'A project such as this wouldn't work without the support of the community,' said Kim Kelley, chair of the parent organizing committee.

Beginning this week, parents and students of the Class of 2000 will be asking businesses and organizations in the area to contribute to the event. The committee is asking for party food, gift items to be given away during the party, and money, both to cover event expenses and for purchase of larger items to be given away at the breakfast.

To donate to the event, call Val VanStean at 946.4037 or 946.9847.
