Sodus ThinkQuest students post website

Two teams of students from the Sodus Intermediate School have been involved in the ThinkQuest Junior Contest for the past five months. ThinkQuest Junior is a classroom-based competition that encourages girls and boys in grades 4-6 to take a meaningful interest in computers and technology. ThinkQuest Junior helps teachers promote the 'Internet Style' of learning - an interactive, participatory method that encourages students to take advantage of the Internet as a constantly growing source of information and as a powerful collaborative tool. Making learning fun and contagious for other students of the same age, ThinkQuest Junior teams create educational Web sites on a variety of subjects.

Under the direction of Karen Rawden and Terri Smith, the Intermediate School's ThinkQuest Junior teams have their websites up and running.

The teams included; Jane Brown, Kari Burlee, Adam Centro, Harrison Hendricks, Jordan Spear, Linette Turner (We Love LEGO Dacta!),

Michelle Miller, Kimberly Rawden, Nicole Secore, and Taylor Smith (Wayne Quest-What makes New York's Wayne County unique?).

In April, the Wayne Quest Team unveiled their site at the Wayne County History Jamboree and came away with a first place ribbon. The teams also participated in the Retrotech Computer Fair at the Fingerlakes Community College in April. Both team websites have been judged among over 800 entries from all over the world at Think Quest Junior. The Wayne Quest-What Makes New York's Wayne County Unique? site has recently been named one of the semi-finalists, and winners will be announced by webcast on May 19.

You can view the sites by visiting the Sodus Central School Web Page and finding their links on the Intermediate Page.
