DeJohn named Postmaster in Newark After serving the Newark Post Office for more than 28 years, most recently as Customer Services Supervisor, Newark native Robert DeJohn has been appointed Postmaster. He was selected over four other applicants by the Postal review Board and the Operations Manager of the 144-145 Zip Codes. DeJohn was born in Newark, where his father had moved to manage the Bern Furniture Store and later opened the Dick DeJohn Furniture Store at the 'south end.' He and wife Jo Ann live on Lea Drive and have two grown sons. Scott is married to the former Camille Colavito and they have a son, Jake Thomas, age 1. They live in Buffalo. Another son, Robert Jr., also lives in Buffalo. DeJohn graduated from Newark High School in 1964 and served in the Army Reserve. His hobbies include golf, and refereeing baseball. His goal as Postmaster is to make sure that the community gets the service that they deserve as postal customers, and he pledges to continue to improve where necessary, in the footsteps of his predecessor Jim Blandino, whom DeJohn regards as his mentor, as well as friend. ' I am very proud to have been chosen as postmaster of this very historic and well run post office. I credit the 32 employees of this facility for the excellent record they have achieved,' said DeJohn. An official installation ceremony will take place on June 13, in Newark's Central Park.
