Have you noticed? Now the nice weather is back, everyone is acting differently? Or maybe it's the full moon? The kids are in school taking tests, so they are a little less then happy. But what about my cat? If he's not trying to escape out the front door, he can be found in a box. (Trying to mail himself out perhaps?)

There will be a Car Wash on Saturday, May 20 at the Dynalec parking lot from l0 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shortly following, you can enjoy the Open House at the Youth Center from 4-9 at the Santelli Lumber building for refreshments and snacks. Also a dance is scheduled for May 27 from 4-9 p.m.

Also tomorrow, there's a Chicken & Biscuit Dinner at the Sodus Reformed Church, 18 Maple Ave. They'll be serving from 5 to 7 p.m. (Or you can get take-out.)

Eileen's mom, Betty, is back in NewYork. (Too bad the weather hasn't been more cooperative for her.) She and Ralph are used to much warmer temps. Enjoy your stay.

Granny Goodstory is looking forward to being at the Lilac Festival this weekend, weather permitting. Diane Phillips signed a contract the other day at Joanne's Creation store at Market Place Mall to give classes making her handmade fabric crocheted baskets. Congratulations, Diane, on your newest venture. Her son will be coming in from LA the first weekend of June for a visit. Sound like she's going to be busy.

This weekend, Sunday, May 21 will be the Bog & Grog at the Wallington Fireman's field from noon to 5 p.m.

Earlier this week, Mary Jane Mumby of the Sodus Chamber of Commerce attended a two-day seminar in Newark entitled Your Town - Designing Your Future. Sodus is being used as a case study for a state initiative to develop and improve the quality of life for small towns and villages. Six people attended the seminar from Sodus, where NYS Lt. Governor Mary Donohue spoke.

driftwood on beach The Sodus Chamber of Commerce is looking for anyone who would like to volunteer to help with Breakfast on the Bluff scheduled for July 4. If you would like to help out or have any questions, call Mary Jane at 483.4067.

The Williamson Apple Blossom Festival is this weekend. There's a Spaghetti Dinner tonight at the Fire Hall and a street dance from 8 to 11. The Apple Blossom Parade is tomorrow at 3 p.m. And the annual Yard & Baked Food Sale will be held at the First Baptist Church, E. Main St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Then Sunday, there's a Fly-In Breakfast at the airport, 7 to noon.

The First Presbyterian Church in Sodus has canceled its Roast Beef dinner for tomorrow night, so you can strike that off your calendar. (I hear that it wasn't on too many calendars in the first place - hence the cancellation. Too bad.) Watch for them to reschedule.

Happy Birthday to Michael White on May 20 and Happy Anniversary to Alice and Doug Clark on May 25.

I hear Burnap's is opening next Friday. I also hear they have spruced up a little. If you go visit over the Memorial Day weekend, let me know what you find.

The Kraft Shack will be having a Wilton Course I Cake Decorating for four nights beginning Wednesday, May 24. The class will teach you how to decorate your own cakes for special occasions. $25, supplies are extra. The course continues on May 31, June 7, and June 14.

On your way to the library, but aren't sure what books your kids will like? How about these:

Huggly's Pizza by Tedd Arnold

Mr. Bear Babysits by Debi Gliori

If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff

Arthur's Pet Business by Marc Brown

When Will It Be Spring? by Catherine Walters

inside at the library The Williamson Library will be closed tomorrow for Apple Blossom, and for spring cleaning Friday through Monday, May 26-29.

I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day. Ralph Everdyke says they went to Burnham's Canalside in Newark for brunch. He tells me they had reservations for 1000 people!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this week's column and to those who have contributed in the past. Your information is always appreciated. E-mail me at
