Memorial Day weekend is traditional planting time in many northern parts of the country. Monday after the Memorial Day weekend is traditional time to dig up and dispose of plants killed by unexpected hard frost the previous night.

THANKS to everyone who participated in the Walk for Health on May 20, either by walking or sponsoring those who did walk. Proceeds have been forwarded to the Cancer Center at the Clifton Springs Hospital.

Your Marion Museum will be open on Memorial Day, May 29 at 10 a.m. The latest exhibit, arranged by Marion's Town Historian, is titled, 'Ellis Island.'

Virginia Lupold is planning an overnight trip to the Kingston, Ontario area for Monday and Tuesday, July 17 and 18. This trip includes an overnight at Comfort inn with continental breakfast and tour, lunch and parade at Fort Henry. There will be a dinner cruise on board the Island Star. A guided tour of Kingston and a visit to Upper Canada Village. Call her at 597.4372.

May 25 is Arts Alive at the Elementary School. At 6:30 p.m. an Art Show and at 7:30 is the grades 5 and 6 Chorus Concert.

Elementary School Memorial Day Ceremony at the Marion Cemetery will be at 1:20 p.m. on Friday, May 26.

Memorial Day Parade is Monday, May 29, at 11 a.m.

Line up at Firemen's Field at 10:30 and step off at 11. Program follows at the Marion Cemetery.

June 2 is the Grades k-4 vocal concert at 1:30 p.m.

June 1-3 Fairville Field Days - Firemen's Parade on Friday, June 2 at 7 p.m.

June 3-4 Ontario Summerfest from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

MAY 19, 1917: A bus line has been opened between Marion and Newark by the merchants association of Newark. With two bus lines between this town and Palmyra, Marion is not entirely shut off from civilization.
