Trails Day marked at Chimney Bluffs

National Trails Day was created in 1993 in an effort to promote multi-use trails for all Americans. The program is designed to encourage partnerships at the local level, and to get a variety of trail interests working together for a common cause.

On June 3, outdoor enthusiasts will gather at thousands of events to enjoy family hikes, bicycle rides, trail festivals, maintenance projects and a variety of other activities aimed at getting people outside and on the trails.

Trail Works, Inc., an organization of multi-use trail users in Wayne County, will be celebrating by hosting an event on June 3 at 10 a.m. at Chimney Bluffs State Park, on the shores of Lake Ontario, just west of Sodus Point.

This park offers scenic views of the lake and striking land formations caused by natural wind and water erosion. There will be a short hike along the Bluff trails, as well as information available about the Wayne County Trails Master Plan and existing trails in our county. This is an excellent opportunity to experience the recent improvements at the Chimney Bluffs State Park and meet others interested in trail activities and development.
