'The Wiz' on stage in Pultneyville The Gatesinger Company, Ltd., of Pultneyville, will 'ease on down the road' for the Youtheatre production of 'The Wiz'. This 1974 musical is based upon the movie, The Wizard of Oz, and features a cast from Williamson, Sodus, Marion, and Ontario. The lively, upbeat music from the show is accented by the bright costumes from the 70's era. Psychedelic backdrops and props accompany bright bell-bottoms, and polyester flower prints. The musical score by Charlie Smalls features two well known numbers, 'Ease on Down the Road', and 'Believe in Yourself.' There is plenty of energetic choreography to complement the music. The production, directed by Sara Eden of Marion, features Abby Deen-Clingan as Dorothy, Katie Muto as Aunt Em, Mike Sensenbach as Uncle Henry, Rae Stanley as Addaperle, Jamal Abdunassir as the Scarecrow, Eli Gelo as the Tinman, Danny Autovino as the Lion, Amber Marie Payne as Glinda, Katie Mulberry as The Yellow Brick Road, and Michael Rehor as The Wiz. Rounding out the cast as poppies, dancers, funky monkeys, Munchkins, and chorus are: Joanna Carey, Brienne Meyer, Bill Mulberry, Ethan Rehor, Treasure Horn, Mamie Baxter, Michael Brown, Ian Johnson, Heidi Knapp, Chris Koudelka, Ian McKinneyWood, Marie Montondo, Jenny Orbaker, Jessica Turner, Sarah VanNorstrand, and Stephanie Wright. The Wiz will be presented at Gates Hall in Pultneyville for five performances on November 24 and 25 at 8 p.m., November 26 at 2 p.m., and December 1 and 2 at 8 p.m. Advanced sale tickets can be reserved by calling the box office at 315.589.3326.
