Sheriff wants unusable child safety seats

The Wayne County Sheriff's office is sponsoring a bounty program for the child passenger safety seat program. This will be December 15 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Sheriff's office located at 7308 Route 31, Lyons.

The bounty program is an incentive to turn in child safety seats that have been recalled but not repaired, have been in a crash, show signs of aging plastic, or are over six years old. You must be a county resident in order to participate.

A movie ticket will be given out for each car seat turned in, up to a limit of three seats per family. This is not a car seat check, but a program to help reduce the number of damaged, old, or recalled car seats still in use.

The Sheriff is being assisted by Public Health. If you have any questions, call the juvenile office at 946.9711.
