Happenings If you can start the day without caffeine; if you can get going without pep pills; if you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains; if you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles; if you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it; if you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time; if you can forgive a friend's lack of consideration; if you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when, through no fault of your own, something goes wrong; if you can take criticism and blame without resentment; if you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him; if you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend; if you can face the world without lies and deceit; if you can conquer tension without medical help; if without the aid of drugs; if you can honestly say that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed or color; religion or politics; then, my friend, you're almost as good as your dog. Almost, but not quite. (This is dedicated to every dog lover in the world.) Help the Homeless. Bring your items to the United Church for the 'Help The Homeless Weekend.' 'You're old when your friends compliment you on your new alligator shoes and you're barefoot.' Doug and Jeanette Wessie have just returned from a 10-day, four-island cruise in the Hawaiian Islands. They were in a group of 52. Some of the places visited included a tour of Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, and a stay in Lehina on Maui, where they had lunch with Bruce Curtis (former Marionite), whom they had not seen since 1956. The Wessies enjoyed a helicopter ride and a tour of a submarine. The weather continued in the 80's. Aboard ship they enjoyed the abundance of food served at all times of the day and night, the side trips and the crafts offered. Oh, yes, they made a trip to Hilo Hattie's. They saw dolphins surrounding the ship and heard that there was an earthquake out in the ocean while they were visiting the islands. Rev.
