Wolcott, Rose get $$ from antique dealers

Grants totaling $1208 have been awarded by the Wayne County Antique Dealers Assn. to support worthwhile projects of three local historical societies.

  • The Wolcott Historical Society received $358 for the purchase of a fireproof file cabinet.
  • The Town of Rose Historical Society was awarded $300 toward the purchase of a digital camera.
  • The Red Creek Historical Association will use its $550 grant to erect a historic marker at the site of an early settlers cabin.

Applications from historical societies were reviewed in this fifth year of the annual partnership grant program, which was initiated by the Antique Dealers Association in 1996 to provide continuous cumulative support for the historical, cultural and creative life of Wayne County.

A total of $5448 has been awarded since the program's inception. Applications for grants to supplement ongoing or new projects will be available to chartered historical societies next fall.
