Blood drives in Wayne County

The nation's blood supply is critically low and all eligible donors are strongly encouraged to schedule an appointment to donate blood.

The following blood drives are scheduled around Wayne County for October:

  • Wednesday, October 11 from 2 to 7 at the American Legion, Water Street, Lyons
  • Thursday, October 12 from 2 to 7 at the Ontario Firemen's Field, Rte. 104
  • Saturday, October 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Church of the Epiphany, 105 W. Main St., Sodus
  • Tuesday, October 17 from 2 to 7 at Wolcott Baptist Church, New Hartford and Main Streets
  • Saturday, October 21 from 9 until 2 at United Methodist Church, 6837 Church St., Red Creek
  • Monday, October 23 from 2 to 7, Palmyra Fire Department on Route 31

Volunteer blood donations help patients being treated for accidents, routine surgeries and serious diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma and other cancers, heart disease and sickle cell anemia.

Only five percent of eligible Americans donate blood, and this results in a shortage of blood.

To donate blood, you must be 17 or older and weigh 110 pounds or more. For more information, call the Wayne Chapter American Red Cross at 331.3783.
